Desc:  Hilt of conventional sheath-knife form. Mushroom-shaped aluminium pommel-cap with hexagonal brass inset around the tang, small flat oval crossguard. The grip is made up of transverse layers of leather with, at each end, ferrules of transverse layers of brass alternating with black and red layers of a hard material.
Double-edged, straight, spear-point blade of flattened diamond section with a 12.7 mm (1/2 in) ricasso.

This historic artefact is in excellent condition, having been recently refurbished.  It is believed to be from the WWII era and bears on the reverse of the leather scabbard the owner's name and station (appears to read 'RAF Malta').
